“Cannot load DtzCdrToolCore.dll”

Updated 2026-10-27 · Applies to 1.2.0 and later

The message sounds like a missing file, and it almost never is. It means the tool and its DLLs came from different builds, or two tools are fighting over the same channel.

What it actually means

The file is usually present. The load fails for one of two reasons:

  • Version mismatch. A newer executable is looking for an interface that the DLL next to it does not have. This happens when one file was replaced on its own — for example after copying a DLL by hand from another machine.
  • Channel already taken. Another instance of the add-on, or a second CorelDRAW, holds the same inter-process channel. The second one cannot attach and reports a load failure.

Fix, in order

  1. Close every CorelDRAW window. Check the task manager for a leftover process and end it.
  2. Run the installer for your version again — over the top, no need to uninstall first. This restores a matched set of files.
  3. Start one CorelDRAW instance and try sending one small job.
Never mix buildsDo not copy a single DLL from a colleague's machine to “fix” this. The DLL, the executable and the plugin must all come from the same release; mixing them produces exactly this message.

Two CorelDRAW windows

Opening a second document in a separate CorelDRAW instance creates a second plugin host. Only one can own the channel at a time. Close the extra instance, or finish the job in one and then switch. See Two CorelDRAW instances.

If it still fails

Send us the folder contents of Plugins64\dtzCdrTool and the exact message. With the file list we can tell whether it is a mismatch or a permission problem in one pass.
